hello richard,

I would like to be able when required to recall certain items early for calibration, but not change the actual calibration due date.

As i have some items that i need to use fairly often, but they only appear on the recall list the week they are due.

This can mean they are "out of calibration" and late before i can arrange to have them sent for calibration.

I been thinking it would be good if i had the option to early recall these items somehow, but not change the actual due dates, maybe a small tick box, which allows this to happen.

Then i can turn this feature on/off when required.

Unless you can suggest another way, as i dont want to spend ages changing/amending dates for this to happen.

cheers

Hi Scott

To put this into context can you tell me the following for a typical item in question:

1) Calibration control type : fixed interval, usage, issues, etc ?
2) The control features eg fixed interval 4 weeks.

hello richard,

1, calibration control type - we only use fixed via the calender, we never use useage or issue control.

2, the control features vary from 12 weeks to 5 years, its asset type depandant.

I mainly need it for our calibration masters.

But the example is i have a digital thermometer that i need to use for a furnace check once per week, so i have 2 in rotation, one calibrated the other sent for calibration when the last runs out.

But as it takes 2 weeks to get calibrated i have this uncalibrated time in use, while one is away getting calibrated.

So if i could recall items early but keep the due dates the same, it would negate this slight uncalibrated overlap.

As auditors like this kind of quality escape and i would prefer not to have it.

regards

scott

Sorry about the delay in responding.
If you wish to recall early - why not just run a recall list with a date period further forward ?
If you apply a filter to the current dataset first eg by location or type : calibration masters or gauge room then you will have a list which you can scan. You might be able to filter on one or more of the items on the ASSET tab.
This has prompted us to add a new standard report which will be a list of all 'Reference Equipment' that has the box checked on the MANAGEMENT tab. This list would include all your calibration masters with recall dates.
This addition should be available by the end of next week - I will email a link to you for an upgrade download.
We shall be doing a major rewrite of the system over the next few months to accomodate new WINDOWS and database technology so we can probably include a forward reminder flag in that.
