Richard,

Is it possible for you to make A2Zmanager recognise more than one folder when dealing with calibration certificates.

As i now have 2000 certificates in one folder going back 5 years, its taking ages to load the window and find the certificates for the records.

currently i have a folder called "calibration certificates" on our network server, but if i create a folder inside that folder say called "2011", when i add a certificate to a record and click browse to find the cert and load it, then click save, all is ok.

But when you click view it says "could not create linked object".

Would be nice if i could add folders in years, so i dont have them all in one folder, as in a few more years it's just going to get worse.

thanks

Yes, as the years pass by, this is becoming an issue on several sites.
We will make an amendment to enable subfolders to be included in the certificate file path names.
A minor database change will be required because the file name is currently limited to 20 characters.
Estimated time: before end of March.

We have tidied up the certificate file browse/view procedures so that subfolder names can be used in V1.16C. The subfolder name should not have a leading backslash - the BROWSE button will omit this if you use it.
The current length of the certificate file name is 20ch. We have increased this to 100ch in new systems. In the case of SQL SERVER databases the database administrator can increase the field act_cert in table ACTIVITY to 100ch - other databases will need to be updated by us if file paths longer than 20ch are required.
The current upgrade for V1.16C is available to download using the A2Z UPDATE program on your workstations.

thanks richard.

I've got update v1.16c installed but everytime i try to edit the record and add the certificate in the sub folder i get the following message.

"no changes filed in activity record"

and the certificate is not shown in the reference box.

any idea whats happening?

cheers

Yes - mental aberrations here I am afraid.

First - typo error - ask your SQL SERVER database administrator to increase the field 'act_ref' in the table 'activity' to varchar(100) - I gave the wrong field name previously.

Second - download the update again - same password and retry - we have had to rebuild V1.16C.
Sorry about this.

Richard.
